Noise is a fact of life – on and off the job. And noise can damage your hearing permanently. Before you know it, you can’t hear the voices, the music – all the sounds that mean the most to you. Your employer cares about protecting your hearing and has established a three-part hearing conservation program. It won’t work without you.
Testing
Your employer will determine what work locations have hazardous noise levels potentially damaging to your hearing. You will also be given hearing tests to be sure your hearing has not changed significantly.
Training
Your employer will provide you with information about the hearing conservation program and give you an opportunity to ask questions and be well-informed. You’ll learn about normal hearing, natural hearing loss, how hazardous noise can cause hearing loss, and how hearing protectors work.
Hearing Protection
Your employer will offer you a choice of hearing protectors. They all work to conserve your hearing. Choose and use the most comfortable ones. Learn how to fit them correctly and care for them properly so you can protect your hearing on and off the job.
